MAKE YOU THINK A LITTLE!

Very interesting article on CNN.com this afternoon about white actors starring in roles of characters of color. The pic of Jake Gyllenhaal is relevant because he is white actor playing a character who character is Middle Eastern. Now one would think we have gotten past the days of white actor John Wayne playing Genghis Khan or Mickey Rooney starring as Mr. Yunioshi but not really. Also, the highly anticipated movie The Last Air Bender, has caught attention for having three to four white characters in key roles that people believe are meant for Asian Actors.

There has also been some heat with Angelina Jolie getting the role of Cleopatra, who historians believe look like this, which is a computer generated model created by scientists, but in 1963 Liz Taylor starred as Cleopatra. So, "Whitewashing" has continued, read the CNN article and if you have time just look up white actors playing characters of color.
