USA 1960 Before the Dream Team

Now if you have not heard the 1992 Dream Team from the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona were inducted into the Hall of Fame, you know the team stacked with His Airness in Jordan, Pippen, the Mailman in Karl Malone, Stockton, Bird, Magic, Sir Charles, Mullin, Ewing, The "Admiral" in David Robinson, Clyde "The Glyde"Drexler, all of the household names in the NBA, along with Christian Laettner. Yea the "Dream Team"  are now apart of the Hall of Fame but the "Original Dream Team" from the 1960's that featured your grandfathers fav players in Mr. Logo in Jerry West, the Big-O in Oscar Robertson, Mr. Clutch Jerry Lucas, Hall of Famers in Walt Bellamy, Rookie of the Year in '63 and three time All-Star in Terry Dischinger,  1966 All-Star Game MVP in Adrian Smith and more were also inducted into the Hall and its about time. The amazing thing is back in the 1960's the "Original Dream Team" were all college players, pro players were not allowed to participate until 1989.

The "Original Dream Team" slaughtered opponents outscoring them by 42.4, but the "Dream Team" from '92 won its games by 43.4.

Some key factors: No three point line back in the 60's wonder what the margin would have been if the line was in place, 60's team were young amateurs going up against older European teams. The closest game for the '60 Team was 24, the '92 Team 34. Six All-Star Game MVP's for the"Original's", Eleven for the "Dream Team". Only four hall of famers for the '60's to 10 for the '92.

Interesting: 1960 U.S. Basketball team member Bob Boozer sat out one year and did not enter the NBA Draft to keep his amateur status in order to play for the Red, White and Blue. Before teams were about to get pounded by the '92 Team, opponents during pre-game asked for the "Dream Team" autograph's. Also "Dream Team" Coach Chuck Daly never called a single time-out in any of the games they played in, that's DOMINANCE.
